Audition Facts:
•You will need to prepare 2 contrasting pieces of music from the Standard Flute Repertoire, for example:
Mozart – Concerto in G Major, Concerto in D Major
Quantz – Concerto in G Major
Chaminade – Concertino
Faure – Fantaisie
Enesco – Cantabile e Presto
Bach, J.S. – one of the 6 Sonatas
Debussy – Syrinx
Honegger – Danse de la Chevre
(there are many more appropriate pieces, if you have a question on whether the piece you are working on is appropriate don’t hesitate to email me)
•You will be asked to play 2 Major scales (2 octaves)
•There will be a short Sight-Reading piece
•Auditions will take place in a Woodwind faculty member’s office. There will be at least 2 Woodwind faculty present.
•There are only 10” allotted for auditions. Do not expect to perform all of the music that you have prepared. However, do be honest with how much of the piece you have prepared as we may ask you to perform a section towards the middle or end of the piece.
•We will reserve a few minutes at the end of your audition in order to address any questions that you may have.
